Business Day Nigeria, September 4, 2025

Nigeria's Anambra State enacted the Igbo Apprenticeship Law on September 10, 2025 — formally recognising a community-run business incubator that has operated without government support for centuries. The law creates a formal commission, written agreements between business mentor and apprentice, and legal accountability for settlement capital. Business Day's analysis confirmed that the system produces businesses with lower failure rates than those funded through formal venture channels, because the mentor has a personal stake in the outcome.

Why it matters for MBC: The oldest and most successful model of business community investment in the world just became law. MBC is building the same model for a new community in a new era.
